Why Nutrition?

My study of nutrition and functional medicine came from a place of needing answers and relief. Growing up with chronic illness, it took over 20 yrs to find a diagnosis for my genetic condition, and even after I got one, I was told there was nothing to be done. It doesn’t have to be that way! Functional medicine is all about finding the root causes of disease and treating it as effectively and safely as possible. Learning what foods work best with your body is one of the best treatments there is! My own experiences have made me hungry to share what I’ve learned with others who are suffering.

My Experience

I hold a Master’s of Science in Nutrition & Integrative Health from the Maryland University of Integrative Health, and an herbalism certificate from The Herbal Academy. I have spent the last several years focusing on children’s nutrition education, helping kids learn about where their food comes from, how they can prepare it themselves, and how it nourishes their bodies. In the practice, I work with our selective eating patients where I assess eating challenges, provide cooking experiences for exposure and learning and increase confidence in trying new foods/textures. I also love to educate parents, caregivers and providers on ways to incorporate new foods by being considerate to food challenges without catering.

About Me

At Root Health, Nutrition & Wellness I am a jack of all trades! I teach nutrition classes and 1 to 1 meal/cooking exploration with kids and adults, write educational content from eBooks to infographics, post on our blog, and create herbal supplements and cleansing products. I love getting to work on a variety of projects and getting to stretch my creative muscles!

When I’m not working, I’m usually doing a lot of reading, doing home decor, traveling, and spending time with my husband and our spoiled greyhound.
